What is Friends / Amis du lac Bernard?
Many residents of Lac Bernard wish to continue the long tradition of fostering community spirit and providing educational activities for residents and visitors, young and old. To this end, in 2022 we incorporated a new not-for-profit called the Friends / Amis du lac Bernard that acquired The Clubhouse from the Owners’ and Residents’ Association of Lac Bernard (ORALB).

Our mission is to foster community by providing diverse programs and services across ages and interests. We are committed to overcoming challenges, building bridges, and creating welcoming spaces that reflects our rich history, embraces our present community, and shapes a dynamic future.

How did this come about?
In the fall of 2021, the Owners’ and Residents’ Association of Lac Bernard (ORALB) wanted to sell The Clubhouse. They came to an agreement to sell it to Rick Soderstrom and Gaye Moffett. Rick and Gaye wanted to ensure that The Clubhouse tradition would continue. With the help of a founding group of Lac Bernard residents they formed les Amis as a new energetic non-profit organization. Les Amis purchased The Clubhouse with funds provided by the founding group.
How is les Amis funded?
The new organization has received substantial start-up financial contributions from the founding group. Additional funding will be required to improve the facilities. We gratefully accept donations of time, materials, money, long term loans and membership dues. You can help!
Will les Amis become a charity?
We intend to apply for charitable status.
What is happening with the Right-of-Way?
Les Amis has retained legal counsel and intends to continue the legal case.
Will we ever be able to have a dock?
Access to The Clubhouse by water from all points on the lake is a priority. We will not be satisfied until we achieve success.
What’s next?
We are excited to be looking to the future. We’ll make improvements to The Clubhouse building. And with the help of new volunteers we intend to plan new programming.
